Polynesia French - Stamp Packet

A group of islands in the South Pacific Ocean, two of the most well known being Tahiti and Bora Bora, French Polynesia is an overseas collectivity of France. The islands were first united together in 1889 as a protectorate and the first stamps were issued in 1958 when the area voted to become an overseas territory. Famous for black Tahitian pearls, blue lagoons and black sand beaches, French Polynesia is a veritable paradise to visit. Many artists have made it their home over the years, such as the French post-Impressionist Paul Gauguin.
