Why do "Mint Never-Hinged" stamps appear to be priced higher than catalogue value?

Stamps issued prior 1949 have a greater value if mint never hinged. A never-hinged pricing factor (25% - 300%) is used in the price calculation. The pricing factor is given for each stamp in the catalogue. We use the Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps as a reference. Example: Stamp # 51 Mint VF is priced at $35.00 with a NH pricing factor of 200%. Stamp #51 Mint VF NH is therefore priced at $105.00. The calculation is $35.00 + 200% = $105.00.
